Summary
Khamsone Xaysomphou holds the position of
Environmental Scientist with Earth Systems Lao. He is a
graduate from the National University of Laos, and is
currently working as a Team Leader in a Baseline Study
being conducted for the Nam Theun 2 Hydropower
Project. In this position, Khamsone has gained familiarity
with NT2 Project Lands and villages potentially affected
by the Project. Khamsone has strong communication
skills that have enabled him to coordinate effectively with
district government officials and village authorities
throughout the project.

Socio-economic and field survey Team Leader for a
Project Lands Baseline Study for the Nam Theun 2
Hydropower Project, Lao PDR. Responsibilities
included:
Conduct of socio-economic (livelihood) surveys in
6 villages potentially affected by the Project.
Preparation of consultation materials and
presentation to district government officials and
local village authorities.
Coordination, training and supervision of field
survey teams for the areal measurement of
privately owned land areas and assets located
within the Project Lands.
Assistance with ongoing community consultation
throughout this process.
Conducted Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) in
rural communities of Vieng Poukha District, Louang
Namtha Province, as part of the EU Micro-Projects
Development Through Local Communities (MPDLC).
Conducted a study of agrarian systems in rural
communities of Vieng Poukha District, Louang
Namtha Province, as part of the EU MPDLC.
